About Eli
Seven years ago, I was in active addiction, and it nearly cost me my life. After an accident that left me in a hospital bed for months and took seven surgeries to recover from, my family brought me to Powell River as a last chance. I didn't know a single person here. Strangers showed up anyway, cooking meals, driving me to appointments, and giving me the first real community I had ever known. I have been sober for as long as I have lived here, and that is not a coincidence.
Powell River is where I chose to build my life. I moved here over six years ago, and this community has given me more than I could have imagined. This summer I married the love of my life, Shannon, right here in town. We are building our life in Powell River because we can't imagine calling anywhere else home.
I work in community outreach at Inclusion Powell River, where I support individuals with special needs every day. I serve on the board of the historic Patricia Theatre, and I'm an active member of our local Rotary Club. My family also helped design and raise most of the funding for the new Miklat Recovery Centre, a project I'm deeply proud of.
I'm running for City Council because I love this place and its people. I'm not running as a left wing or a right wing candidate, I'm running as a neighbour. I believe practical, compassionate leadership, and people who are willing to show up for one another, can keep Powell River affordable, healthy, and welcoming for everyone.
