How to Vote / Where to Vote
General Voting Day is Saturday, October 17, 2026.
You do not have to vote for six
Powell River elects six City Councillors, which means you may vote for up to six candidates. You do not have to use all six votes. Your ballot counts exactly the same if you vote for fewer.
Many people believe they are required to fill in all six. When names are added just to reach six, those votes carry the same weight as the ones you meant, and they compete directly against the candidates you actually wanted on Council. It also tends to favour whoever is most familiar or happens to appear near the top of the ballot.
Vote for the people you genuinely want representing you, whether that is one, three, or all six.
